Captain EO's Voyage is the twenty-ninth studio album released by guitarist Buckethead. The album's title is a reference to Michael Jackson's movie Captain EO. It is not the first time Jackson has been referenced; Buckethead released the track "The Return of Captain EO" on the album A Real Diamond in the Rough in 2009, and a notable song dedicated to the death of Jackson titled "The Homing Beacon."
The album was first made available only as a download through iTunes, but 2 days after the release it was announced that the album would be released on CD through TDRS Music. It is also the first solo release since Kaleidoscalp (2005) that has not been released first through TDRS. The pre-order of the album, along with Left Hanging, started on October 29 with a tentative release of December 1.[1] Eventually, the CD was released on November 29.[2]
Stained Glass Hill has the exact same beat from track 4 on disc 5 of Buckethead's 2007 box set In Search of The.
Backwards Footprint has the exact same beat from track 2 on disc 10, also from In Search of The.
